the teenage years and more....

A.J. trying outfits
for his upcoming play
Over the past few months I've been tied up with so much,
Hashing out ideas and plans to generate awareness and support for our locals,
Initiation and establishment of our first annual Accessible Lifestyle Expo,
Spending most of my spare time working out schedules, arranging participants, supporters with donations, then correlating everything with my co-planner.
All this happened while still juggling the usual support group meetings and sewing/craft sessions I run, along with any additional meetings and planning appointments.

At home I'm trying to find ways to help A.J. cope with a lot of personal changes he's going through and how he can understand and accept them at his level. The teenage angst has hit with a vengeance and A.J.'s struggling to understand the concept of where and how he fits into the whole thing.

He's been facing days that aren't completely to his regularly organised schedule, school routine, appointments, meetings, sessions, etc, resulting in anxiety stress hitting an all time high through being overwhelmed.
He's also been distracted and consumed by knowing there are so many miniscule yet necessary things that he needs to organise and address.
At the moment the only settling thing he's able to focus on is the school play he's involved in, having a major role can be so exciting and yet also so worrying with his OCD needing him to be perfect with every aspect.

Listening to A.J. trying to explain the different things that are important to him,
-the way he feels, -how he feels others view him, -even just discussing his latest 'obsessions'
Expressing his passion for what is important to 'him' may at first sound confusing to others.
From an outsider's point of view, they could be totally confused, as he bounces back and forth from topic to topic, yet through all that jumbled banter, he can express the clarity of an experienced scholar.

It is refreshing to know no matter how others may view him, AJ has the confidence to disregard any comment, criticism or judgement, to continue on his pathway without a second thought.
Maybe it is more to do with his lack of understanding to the social expectations, although I like to think his personality is more than what society demands, and his confidence is stronger than anyone's negativity.
That is something many should aspire to.

Over all we are taking each day as it comes, hoping to be in the moment whenever it counts and enjoying what ever positivity life shows us.
